For years my family of many and I have celebrated Labor Day with trips to Arkansas or SE Oklahoma. Beavers Bend, Lake DeGray, Hot Springs, and Lake Ouachita have been the backdrop of some great trips. Some years we’ve rented a house or a cabin and some we have rented a houseboat (until a crash landing at a marina… Lol). But no matter where or how we go, its always a great time! As I get older, I cherish these trips and they remind me how lucky we are as a family that we get together for some outdoor fun, food and game playing. Yeah, it ‘s a little work with all the cooking and planning but it’s worth it. It’s also our way of closing out the summer and welcoming my favorite time of year; the fall. It’s through these trips that memories are created that last a lifetime and hopefully, our kids will one day understand that this is just a small part of what makes us…. a family.
